In case anyone else gets this issue:

"Hello Simon, your issue with the MSO-365 spider web portal not recognizing your username/email is an known effect that is currently being worked on by our engineer team. We would like to thank you for your patience during this fourth dimension, until the global issue is reconciled. Please give 24 hours for servers to synchronize your new business relationship."

Apparently if the account is a new account (created in the last 48 hours) then this consequence can occur.

To investigate the issue, please confirm the following information:
ane. Have you tried logging in using username@***.customdomain.com rather than *** Email address is removed for privacy *** ? Does the outcome happen to other users?
